There are many Turkish Mainland Banks to choose from in Northern Cyprus. However, there is also branch of the UK’s HSBC located in both Lefkosia and Kyrenia. All foreign currencies can be exchanged in the banks as well as exchange shops. If you are coming to live or to purchase a house in North Cyprus then it is imperative you open an account at one of the banks. To do this you will require a copy of your passport, proof of residency, and will need to place a small amount of cash into the account.
